"Call it aging, but after about a half a million miles of cycling, I’m no longer comfortable on the vast array of traditional “horned” saddles available today. My theory is that the traditional saddle, even with a measured nose drop, still places a substantial amount of pressure on the perineum, which in turn compresses and blocks the gluteus medius, an important stabilizer of the low back.
The ISM, with its open front and horse shoe shape is different from any other saddle I’ve tried. After using the Racing model for the past 8 months, I have found it relieves this pressure and greatly reduces the dull ache in the low back region. This constant pain has always been viewed by me as a concession to my age and a result
of my cycling experience - 500K miles, crashes and general wear and tear. With the improved support for my low back, power remains constant…far more constant, and comfort has returned.
